God is infinite

QUESTION: What does it mean that God is infinite?

ANSWER:

God is infinite. God’s infinity is much more than His ever presence. His understanding, His abilities, His love with goodness and mercy are all limitless. In fact, in every area imaginable, God is immeasurable, limitless, and without end. He is forever present wherever and whenever we look.

“...God has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’” (Hebrews 13:5b) This means that in every area or need in our lives we can turn to Him, count on Him and be assured that He will never abandon us.

There are times in everyone’s life that we need an exceptionally good friend to help us. We need a shoulder to lean on, an ear to listen, or someone with great wisdom to guide us. Additionally, we all need someone to love us, unconditionally, through our worst times as well as the good times. These needs are part of our human make-up. God designed us to need others, and most of all to need Him. He alone fulfills all those needs, better than any other could for us.

We might be blessed to have wonderful friends or families that temporarily fill those roles, but they are not permanent. Some may pass away; others move on or may even betray us. But God is permanent and cannot break the promises He makes. He is unending in all ways, including the time He wants to spend with you.

God is Infinite - What else do you have that is forever?
Only the Infinite God can endlessly fill our soul. I once heard it put this way, "The Lord God created us with many body parts. He made us with ears, arms, legs and so on; but he left one area that has a hole in it. This hole is in our soul and only He can fill it."

When we think about it, we often see people trying to fill that hole themselves. Some turn to other people looking for happiness and feelings of being loved. Many absorb themselves in their professions for fulfillment. Others might try to fill that hole with drugs, alcohol, sex, or any number of other external things to cover up emotional pain. Let’s face it; life can be full of hard knocks. It isn’t easy to achieve consistent peace and happiness.

All generations of mankind have searched all kinds of ways to fulfill their questions of life. However, it seems that most searches leave one lacking and with more questions. God, on the other hand, will always have more answers than you have questions. His knowledge and wisdom have no boundaries. He will give you all the right answers and direction because He is the creator of all things—including you, and He loves you without measure. He wants all that is good and best for you and will provide you with direction, strength, health, and joy. There is nothing He won’t do to help you through every trial and area of your life from cradle to grave. Nothing can out-give what God can give!

The ultimate gift He gives is the free gift of forgiveness for your sins. Through Christ Jesus' death for our sins and His resurrection, He offers a beautiful life in eternity with Him. John, speaking of those who accept God’s gift, says “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away” (Revelation 21:4).
